Big Namah to Domino's

Today after having a hectic time working for Internship placement I and Vijay went to Domino's to have dinner, it was vijay's decision to go to Domino's because he was in food committee and all day he was ordering pizzas for the companies visiting the campus. So it was around 9 pm and we decided to go to Domino's.

Once we reached Domino's we found couple to juniors in Domino's ordering pizza's. I and Vijay decided to have a medium stuffed crunch pizza (actually the day before i and sagar went to domino's in the afternoon and ordered a double crunch pizza and got garlic bread free with it) which would have garlic bread free. so we placed an order for medium double crunch pizza and coke.

After 10-15 minutes we got a pizza, the pizza was looking amazing and vijay was having the double crunch for the first time at Domino's. We both took a piece each and because it was double crunch pizza we could not find what was inside until we had a bite of it. In the mean while the juniors were talking with the Domino's guy and they got a pizza delivered, after a bite I and vijay found out that pizzas got exchanged and we got the pizza that the juniors ordered and our pizza went to them. Vijay was not particular in calling the waiter and telling him because he was hungry and was not really bothered about what he was eating since it was a veg pizza that was served, but i decided to call the waiter because he did not even bother to come and tell us that the pizza was exchanged.

So we called the waiter and asked him to take back the pizza and get the pizza that we ordered, in a soft tone the waiter said "Sir it was our mistake so you can have this pizza and if you want we will get you another pizza, you can take away that pizza or have it here". i and vijay decided about having the second pizza and asked him to get the pizza.

So by the time we finished the pizza and garlic bread we got the second pizza, It was packed for a take away but we decided to have the second pizza there, and ultimately finished the second one. After having both the pizza we were happy but at the same time struggling to walk and get back to college.

Just before we were going to Domino's Vijay asked about the cost of the double crunch medium pizza, and i told it would be around Rs 150/- for each, but he misinterpreted as Rs 150/- for one medium pizza, but after getting the free pizza it was having a full medium pizza, half garlic bread and half coke for Rs 150/-.

Grades Electives and Job

Being a final year graduate student i was approached by my juniors for helping them decide on their electives. So how do you decide upon an elective ???? I usually put the question back to them asking what r u looking for while deciding your electives and the most common answers are grades, job and interest in the domain.

One way to look at them is to take a elective of your interest, since you are interested in the domain you are likely to do well and get a better grade, which might help you in getting a job in that field.

Most of the courses that are offered are based on the kind of work that goes on in the industry and have plenty of offering to the students who have taken up this subject, so i guess there is much more in selecting a elective rather in thinking of what kind of job offer we might get after doing this course.

Every course has two main dimensions associated with it which impacts the decision in taking up the course. First is the course content and second is the prof who is offering this course. I feel every prof, before offering a course designs its course content based on the industry requirement, current state of art, background of the students and the available time . In a elective it becomes slightly more important to be comfortable with the professor, Its not easy to go and speak to every professor. Some professors are easy to interact with, while it seems difficult to interact with others. Some profs generate the enthusiasm and zeal in students to attend their classes, every time you attend their classes you never feel when this class will get over rather you feel you had only his class the entire day, week and semester.

So you should take a elective only if it interests you, never allow the grade factor or job factor to come in while deciding your electives, grades are important for every student but grades should hold you back from taking up a course that is of your interest. If you are good in a particular field there are plenty of opportunities in the industry.

what is luck??

I was wondering what is luck??? when is a student said to be lucky???
Well being a student i was thinking when can a student feel he is lucky. Most of the time its the exams that seem to decide the fate of the student. So if a student does well in the exam does it mean that he is lucky??? well I don't know if there is anything called as luck.

A student doing well in the exams implies that "he did a good preparation for the exams" and "the exam paper had question from topics that he covered well". I don't see any role of luck in the first part of the statement but the second part of the statement can just be a coincidence of his intuition and his alertness in class, for your intuition to help you decide what to leave out requires knowledge about the portion for the exams and your ability to decide how important a topic is compared to other. If a student can decide how important a topic is compared to other topics he already has enough insight about the subject and deserve a better grade.

So is a person called lucky if he banked on his intuition and it turns out to be correct, i guess at least in the the case of student its hard to find the role of luck in the success.
